The limited print 'Coco' is part of the illustration series 'Quarantine Characters'. A series about some very different personalities Lieke Milder was in lockdown with in a hostel in Cusco, Peru, during the COVID-19 crisis. Each person is pictured in their most iconic way of coping with the strange situation they were suddenly in.
"Let me introduce you to Coco. The first week of lockdown we saw the back of the laptop more than this shy Chinese girl. But in the second week she opened up and showed us a terrific hard-working person who was following an American study during her time there. She taught us how to make Chinese dumplings, but laughed her ass off when our big 'European' hands made more of a doughnut. As the weeks flew by, she became my friend who was in for a crazy dance, hug or laugh at the just right moments. It was sad to leave her behind, because she is still not able to go back to the US or China. Stay strong dear Coco!"
