Inspired by African drum music, I made these dancing creatures as a personal project. Every creature represents a role in a fictional tribe. It started off with one creature, the chieftain. But then I decided that a chieftain couldn't live alone. What is he then a chief for? And thus the tribe arose. In order of appearance we see the chieftain, the peacemaker, the observer and the creator.
I set up some rules to challenge myself in this project. First rule was that I only had one day to develop a creature from concept to a swinging result. Second rule was that I could only use geometric shapes and a limited color palette. Third rule was to let them dance in different ways that would fit their identity. And the last rule was of course to just have fun!
